Our location
During 2023, Giles retired from full time Blacksmithing due to health issues. The name Abbott Street Forge is transitioning to Sixpenny Forge. Sixpenny Forge has been established for over 20 years and has vast knowledge in ironwork. Sixpenny Forge specialise in the supply and fitting of Estate gates, railings and tree guards. Giles shall be returning to work on a part time basis during 2024 making smaller items of ironwork. Sixpenny forge shall make all the large commissions Giles previously made at his forge in Wimborne.
Our approach and customers
Using the best blacksmithing tools and techniques which have largely remained unchanged for hundreds of years, we are able to undertake restoration commissions, and to advise on period designs. We regularly undertake work for Grade I and II listed buildings, as well as in Conservation Areas across Bournemouth, Poole, surrounding Dorset areas, Wiltshire and Hampshire.
Our customers include the National Trust and other conservation bodies, as well as a wide range of private individuals and Town Councils.
