stablished since 1997, at Abbott Street Forge we strive to produce beautifully handcrafted ironwork at competitive and affordable prices. Predominantly working to commission, we always aim to ensure that our work will enhance its intended location, and, made from strong, substantial materials, our work is built to last.
We operate from a 19th Century forge building on the National Trust’s Kingston Lacy Estate. Having been out of operation since 1945, until we started the business in 1997, the building still houses much of the original equipment, most notably the brick forges and the old anvils.
Using blacksmithing tools and techniques which have largely remained unchanged for hundreds of years, we are able to undertake restoration commissions, and to advise on period designs. We regularly undertake work for Grade I and II listed buildings, as well as in Conservation Areas.
Our customers include the National Trust and other conservation bodies, as well as a wide range of private individuals. We have built up a reputation for our reliability and craftsmanship, and are always happy to discuss any metalwork ideas and projects that you might have in mind.
We have a Christmas exhibition every year to display our work and to enable our customers to see our traditional working forge in action.
